23 Aug IPL Photofacial: The Basics!
When it comes to achieving firmer skin texture and a more even overall appearance, one of the most exciting developments in recent years has been light therapy such as the IPL Photofacial system. Here are a few of the most common questions about this amazing noninvasive antiaging treatment.
What is IPL Photofacial?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The IPL Photofacial is a laser treatment designed to fade uneven skin pigmentation, including rosacea, acne scarring, sun damage, and brown spots. The pulse of light from the IPL handpiece passes through the top layer of the skin to where the uneven pigmentation is. The hyperactive pigment-producing cells are destroyed, and the excess pigmentation comes up to the surface of the skin with a coffee-ground type appearance and gently sloughs off. Once the sloughing off has finished naturally, smoother, more even looking skin is revealed.
How many IPL Photofacial treatments will I need?
Each person is unique, but generally 3 to 5 IPL treatments give most people ideal results. Treatments are usually spaced about four weeks apart.
Who can benefit from an IPL Photofacial?
Most people can have IPL treatment, though it might not be the best treatment choice for those who have recently tanned or who have naturally dark skin. However, you can book a free consultation to discuss further options if IPL isn’t for you.
