JUVÉDERM® is an FDA approved dermal filler made by Allergan (the creators of BOTOX®). This filler is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture, softness, and also brings volume. The five different JUVÉDERM®’s are listed and explained below:
JUVÉDERM® Ultra- This filler lasts on average about nine months, it’s known for its smooth consistency and medical professionals enjoy the predictability of it.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC- This filler is very similar to the Ultra however it includes a small, yet effective, percentage of lidocaine, a local anesthesia, which increases the comfort of the injection.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus- This filler lasts up to twelve months, it is much denser, and has a higher concentrate of the HA. The Ultra is injected into the dermis where the Ultra Plus is injected a little deeper.
JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC- This filler is the same as the Ultra Plus however it has the added ingredient of lidocaine to increase comfort during injection.
JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC- This filler can lasts up to two years, it was developed specifically to add volume to the cheeks, and also has the lidocaine for a comfortable injection.
